Kate Barton

I have always enjoyed making things and it has been the small things that have seemed the most special to me. I still love rediscovering collections in trinket boxes of small items that I made as a child. Jewellery was suggested to me by one of my tutors but took me a while to decide that this was a clear choice. I think the jewellery that I make now is most successful when it expresses a sense of tension between concepts; relaxed complexity, irregular patterns, 2D/3D. The personal nature of jewellery is something I find particularly wonderful and puts me in mind of those rediscovered trinkets from my childhood.
