Huia Feather Brooch

The white tipped tail feather from the now extinct huia was a symbol of status worn by Maori chiefs. They were given as tokens of friendship and respect and traded for other valuables such as pounamu. Total length of the brooch is 73mm, it has a stainless steel pin long enough to pin a scarf or cardigan together which is a handy feature in winter. It is made out of sterling silver with Lisa West's special rich brown patina finish.
